There's an infinitesimal hesitation before she answers that one; not because she's unhappy with the fact, but she knows her life story sounds like shit, and she doesn't particularly ever want to subject anyone else to hearing it. "Not by blood, but got a pretty huge one by choice." It's not the same--even if they're as close as they're ever going to get you can't replace the bond that only comes with being genetically linked on a level you can't change. "Only child. Dad was an only child, mom's dead. Never knew her. Such is what happens when they die in childbirth," she says.
